The Dredgehole

There’s a body of water on Osbornes Flat Rd at Allan’s Flat about ten kilometres from Yack just off the Wodonga Rd. On some maps it’s called Allan’s Flat Waterhole, but right beside it, on one bank, is the Yackandandah Lake Picnic Area. It’s known affectionately by most locals as simply ‘the dredgehole’ because that’s how it got there, by the digging for gold. The lake/waterhole/dredgehole is loved by locals and visitors alike. They come to swim, fish, paddle, dive and just float in it. Gold.
